Mossel Bay's restaurants gather where the views are: the town centre, Santos Bay, the harbour and The Point, with more in Hartenbos, Da Nova and Voorbaai.
Seafood is the local speciality, much of it landed in the harbour, but you'll also find braai spots, steakhouses, pizza and family restaurants with play areas. Reviews will tell you which places suit a quick lunch, a family outing or a special dinner. Check whether a restaurant takes bookings, especially for sea-view tables at sunset.
Most restaurants are open every day, Sundays included, and many serve from breakfast until about 21:00 or 22:00. Most of those with listed hours stay open until at least 20:00 on Fridays. Kitchens often close a little before the doors do, so phone ahead if you're arriving late. Book well ahead during the December and January holidays and on big event weekends, when the best tables go quickly.
