Voorbaai, home to much of Mossel Bay's trade and industry, has the largest number of electricians, with others in Dana Bay, Hartenbos and across the rest of town.
Only a registered electrical contractor may carry out electrical installation work, and they must give you an Electrical Certificate of Compliance (CoC) for new installations and alterations. You'll also need a valid CoC when you sell your home, so keep yours safe. Ask to see the contractor's registration, and get a written quote that covers materials, labour and the certificate. If you're adding solar panels or backup power, ask how many similar installations the electrician has done and whether the work will be certified.
Most electricians work from about 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays, and around half of those with listed hours also work on Saturday mornings. A couple advertise 24-hour call-outs. If you smell burning or see sparks, switch off at the main board and keep clear until help arrives.
