Mossel Bay takes its coffee seriously. Two cafés roast their own beans, several come with a view, and Bland Street alone could keep you caffeinated for a week. Here are our favourite coffee shops in Mossel Bay. Opening hours vary, especially on weekends, so check each listing before you go.
The Blue Shed Coffee Roastery
It really is an old shed painted blue, up on Bland Street in the Old Quarter, surrounded by vintage cars. Inside you'll find big sofas, retro posters and a jukebox; outside, a deck with views over the harbour. The beans are roasted on site from all over the coffee-growing world, alongside house blends you'll only find here. Pair your cup with cake, a quiche or a pie.
Good for: coffee lovers, a slow morning, buying beans to take home
Where: 33 Bland Street

Baruch's Coffee Roastery
Hidden in the industrial area of Voorbaai, where you'd least expect a café, Baruch's has been roasting since 1998. The beans are 100% Arabica, roasted in a traditional drum roaster, and the menu adds Israeli-inspired food to the mix. Check the hours before a weekend visit.
Good for: serious coffee, a lunch that's a bit different
Where: Voorbaai

The Merchant Coffee
Once a mechanic's workshop, The Merchant on Bland Street is now a bright, minimalist café serving artisan coffee, all-day breakfasts, toasties and cakes. Head upstairs if you want a quieter corner.
Good for: breakfast, meeting a friend, working with a coffee
Where: 78c Bland Street

Coffee @ Work Oppipunt
"Op die punt" means "on the point", and that's exactly where this small coffee spot is. Grab a coffee, sit at one of the sea-view tables and keep an eye on the children at the playground next door. In whale season, keep your eyes on the water too. Coffee @ Work also has a café in the town centre.
Good for: coffee with an ocean view, parents with little ones
Where: Point Road, The Point

Object Café
On Marsh Street in the centre of town, Object Café serves coffee, breakfasts, light meals and sweet treats in a relaxed setting, and it's wheelchair accessible.
Good for: brunch, a quick coffee in town
Where: Marsh Street, central Mossel Bay
Bonus: coffee at the lighthouse
Combine your coffee with a view at Cape St Blaize Restaurant next to the lighthouse, a perfect stop before or after the St Blaize Trail.
